How to Measure your Room

This guide will help you to measure any room in your house, to get the measurements you need to buy Luxury Vinyl Tiles. At first it can seem daunting to measure a room but it really doesn’t have to be, it can be quite simple. Just take a deep breath and get stuck in.

Before you start you will need the following:

  • A Pen or Pencil
  • Tape Measure
  • Calculator

Please note that this is only a measuring guide and should not be used as an installation guide. We recommend hiring a professional fitter to install your new Luxury Vinyl Tile.

  1. To start of you will need to measure your room’s width and length at the widest point of the room. Don’t forget this includes any Bay’s e.g. bay windows and door ways. (Please see diagram A for help)
  2. Once you have these measurements you will need to times the width by the length to get the sqm of your room. This is where the calculator comes in or you can use the calculator on this web page below.
  3. Once you have the sqm you’ll need to add on 5% to that amount which is called the fitting allowance. This makes sure the fitter has enough of the material after cuts to go throughout your room. On all of our product pages you’ll find a calculator that will work out how many packs you need including the 5% allowance, all you need to know is the width and length of your room.
  4. If you are unsure about any of the 3 steps above, our friendly experts can help you, just give them a phone call on 01772 367616 or email them at hello@lvtonline.co.uk
